the Gangster and Their Cars
Gangsters and their Cars
The scene above is from the hit movie Donnie Brasco. Here they discuss, argue which car is better, a Cadillac or Lincoln. Fuggetaboutit. Which cars did the gangster prefer?
Let’s start with Al Capone. He bought a used 1928 Cadillac Sedan with a 90 BHP 341 cubic inch V8 engine. Chicago based company O’Gara-Hess and Eisenhardt customized and converted the sedan into one street mean bulletproof machine. Al Capone’s bulletproof Cadillac was a heavily customized 1928 Cadillac V8 Town Sedan.
Benjamin (Bugsy) Siegel. The flamboyant gangster who led a significant life of fame and fortune would, of course boast a limousine that fit his lifestyle. In fact, he owned a 1933 Packard Twelve Sedan Limo.
John Gotti. He wasn’t called The Dapper Don for nothing. Even with his cars, he had to have the best and drove a 1972 Jaguar E-Type convertible with V-12 power. That car, which cost $7,500 new, is now at the Mob Museum in Las Vegas.
