Virginia Hill (1916-1966) was an American organized crime figure. She was born in Lipscomb, Alabama, and moved to Chicago in the 1930s, where she worked as a server and a prostitute. Hill, known for her beauty and her sharp wit, and she was a fixture in the Las Vegas social scene during this time. She was the girlfriend of the famous gangster Benjamin (Bugsy) Siegel. (Don’t call him Bugsy, he doesn’t like it.)
Hill’s relationship with Siegel was tumultuous, and she was rumored to have been involved in stealing funds from the construction of The Flamingo, which was named after her because of her long, slender legs. (The Answer). Siegel’s murder was believed to have taken place because of the costs of building the casino went out of control. Virginia moved out of the country and lived in Austria until her peculiar death. No one ever really knew how she died, but stories tell that Joe Adonis went to visit her and after he left, they found her body.
